Being in the Czech army led to some wandering for the intrepid Andrea Calek and by virtue of fate he ended up winemaking, drawn particularly to the simmering natural wine community in southern Rhone, namely, the bucolic hot spot that is Ardehce. Indeed, Valvigniéres is home, or just outside that hamlet, and Calek’s views take in rolling hillsides and streams. These are cultish wine in natural wine circles, wild at heart, pure feeling, sometimes agricultural, often thrilling.
