AJ Adam Hofberg GG Mosel Riesling 2020

AJ Adam's 2020 vintage is their first as a VDP member, unaminously voted in as the 31st member in the Mosel Valley. All fruit for this wine comes from their GG (the German equivalent of Grand Cru) vineyard, "Hofberg", a south-facing, steep site.

The Grand Cru Hofberg stands as one of the most exceptional vineyards in the Mosel region. Back in 1868, the Prussians officially recognized the vineyards on this hill as an exceptional location for crafting exquisite Rieslings. While the majority of the vineyards lie alongside the Mosel river, the Hofberg distinguishes itself by being nestled in a tranquil, picturesque side-valley along the Dhron river. Here, weathered Devonian slate intermingles with quartzite, lending a unique character to the terroir. Presently, the Riesling vines, ranging from 30 to 65 years of age, continue to thrive, with some even remaining ungrafted.

This dry and elegant wine showcases delightful aromas of fresh fruit with underlying hints of herbs and oranges. On the palate, it offers ripe fruit flavors along with its distinctive minerality and perfect harmony between acidity and concentrated fruit. It finishes with beautiful roundness that will continue to develop with age over many years to come.
