Loladze Family Winery Rkatsiteli, Kakhuri Mtsvane Amber 2018

Dry amber wine made in a traditional Georgian qvevri — a large clay vessel buried underground. Indigenous Georgian grapes Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane make up the blend, and spend six months on skins, producing an intensely coloured and tannic amber wine. On the nose there's dried apricot, quince, florals, herbs, and honey. On the palate, concentrated flavours and an invigorating tension between high acidity and high tannins. The wine is rich and textural, with a broad and layered palate and a long finish.

Founded in 2012, Loladze Family Winery combines modern methods and technologies with the Georgian traditional winemaking. They're based in the Meskheti region of Georgia, between the capital of Tbilisi and the imposing Caucasus mountains to the north.
