Kristinus Kékfrankos Vári Dūlõ 2020

Kristinus farms on the southern shore of Lake Balaton (Balatonboglár PDO), where loess and volcanic ash, the cooling lake influence, lake Ferto (aka Neusiedlersee in Austria), the use of high quality amphorae, and a very serious commitment to biodynamic agriculture shape a very distinctive and elegant expression of Kékfrankos. This cuvée is fermented and raised entirely in spherical ceramic vessels: dark cherry and rosehip held in tension by fine acidity, a thread of savoury spice, and a faintly saline, mineral persistence. It’s poised and supple wine, more about clarity and texture than weight, offering a graceful example of the grape that deftly demonstrates the terroir of Balatonboglár.
