White WineWeingut Geyerhof Donauriesling Hofstudien 2023
Celebrating the 15th generational shift, Josef and Maria officially assume the reins, with this wine symbolizing this pivotal transition. Coinciding with regulatory changes in wine nomenclature, the single vineyard title of Gaisberg has been retired. Notably, the deep loess soils of this vineyard yield robust, textured fruits that often reach maturity between mid to late October, even in balmy seasons. With the Gaisberg's Grüner in focus, a novel creation named “Hofstudien,” which translates to “Geyerhof studies,” has emerged. To highlight the inherent qualities of the vineyard, four distinct techniques are employed: the basket press to introduce phenolics, the Hamburger method (a nod to Bott Frigyes) for a salty nuance, carbonic maceration to enhance fruitiness, and prolonged maceration as the culminating touch. This bottling is made from Donauriesling, a PIWI grape variety that is resilient enough to survive with less spraying in the vineyard. Complementing this creation is the label crafted by FLOWSOFLY, a Viennese artist inspired to collaborate after savoring the family's wines.
