Wines of Merritt Chenin Blanc 2020

Originating from a Wilyabrup vineyard located approximately 2km from the Indian Ocean along Caves Road, this wine grows on ironstone gravel beneath a layer of loam, from vines planted closely in the mid-80s. The fermentation process was natural, taking place in barrels - one being used for the first time, two being second-use, and the rest being mature French barriques. Half of these barrels underwent MLF, enhancing the wine's texture and richness. A nine-month maturation on fine lees imparted a streamlined character.

The taste offers a taut, extended profile with hints of apple.
