Wine from the United States is often dismissed by Australians to mirror stereotypes about the country as a whole. Bold, brash, lacking subtlety etc. Generalisations like these do a great disservice to some of the phenomenal wines being made across the US today, from Chenin Blanc and Primitivo made on the California coast, to earthy and supple Pinot Noir from Oregon’s Willamette Valley, to stalwart Rieslings made in New York’s Finger Lakes region. There’s a plethora of iconic wines being made in the US, and more is reaching our shores than ever before.
