Philip Togni
Red WinePhilip Togni Tanbark Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
From the Tanbark Hill vineyard on Spring Mountain in Napa Valley, Philip Togni produces this cuvée as a more accessible counterpart to the estate Cabernet, drawing on younger vines and adjacent parcels. Cabernet Sauvignon leads, typically supported by small portions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak, the 2022 shows blackcurrant, blackberry and plum with cedar, tobacco and dried herb. The tannins are firm but already well-shaped, carrying a structured line through a persistent, savoury finish. It will drink earlier than the estate wine, though retains the capacity to develop over the medium term.
