Kings County Empire Straight Rye Whiskey

From Kings County Distillery in Brooklyn, this is produced under the Empire Rye framework, with a mash bill of at least 75% New York State rye and aged in new charred American oak. Fermented and distilled on a small scale, the whiskey emphasises grain character and structure over overt oak influence. The palate shows rye spice, black pepper and clove, with notes of citrus peel, dill and toasted grain. There is a firm, dry line through the middle, with oak providing shape without excess weight, and a persistent, savoury finish.
