Aunt Alice 'Night Sky' Pinot Noir 2024

A blend of two vineyards from The Derwent Valley and Tamar Valley. 10% wholebunch, wild ferments, gentle plunging then pressed to french oak after 11 days. Left on full lees for softness and texture until bottling in November. 15% new french oak, filtered but unfined.

Beginning work life as a geologist, it wasn’t too long until Alice Davidson found the allure of a career as a winemaker far too enticing. Stints at several wineries across South Australia (most notably head winemaker at Norfolk Rise where she pumped out incredibly good value booze) eventually led to the creation of Aunt Alice. Aunt Alice began it’s life in Robe with a solitary barrel. The next vintage a few more, then a winery, a cellar door and somewhat abruptly, a move to Tasmania where Alice’s obsession with cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir could be satiated. Move to 2022 and the first of Alice’s Tasmanian wines are made. These are wines of understated beauty; assured, nuanced and structured, revealing themselves as you meander through each glass.
