Red WineWerkstatt Mount Gambier Pinot Noir 2025
Bridget Mac trained and worked as an artist before making the move to winemaking, and has spent several vintages working with some of the finest winemakers in Australia and France.
The 2025 vintage in Mount Gambier was exceptionally dry, yet steady, cool temperatures allowed for extended hang-time and a later, riper pick. Harvested on March 13th at 14.5° Baumé, the Pinot Noir achieved beautiful generosity and complete maturity.
Fermented with 30% whole bunch for aromatic lift and fine structure, the wine was matured in French oak puncheons, featuring 25% new François Frères. From the original 2,500L pressed, an unforeseen winery disaster left only ~500L, making this release a rare survival of just 672 bottles.
Transparent ruby in the glass. The nose shows red and black cherry, dark chocolate, lifted by blood orange, tarragon, and toasted fennel seed over a distinct limestone minerality. The palate is fresh and lively, with a silken entry, fine-grained oak, and a central drive of acidity. Chalky phenolics and a subtle bitter-orange edge give structure to the long, mineral finish.
