Rosé WineLVDO Special Aged Rosé 2023
LVDO is the passion project of Marcell Kustos, a Hungarian-born wine scientist, turned sommelier, turned winemaker.
Working closely with growers in the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and beyond, Marcell oversees the entire process of his wines, from growing to bottling. LVDO wines celebrate historical Australian styles, Central European blends, and ambitious experiments.
This wine is inspired by the long-aged and oxidative wines of Rioja's Bodegas López de Heredia, whose Gran Reserva rosé is aged in barrel for 4 years. Made from Syrah grown on limestone soils in the Barossa Valley, the wine spent is made from a single selected 225 litre barrique in which flor developed during elevage. It spent 40 months in barrel on lees, lending the wine a nutty, savoury complexity. It sits somewhere between a rosé and a light red, and is a singular wine with a very limited production of only 270 bottles.
