Kurt Angerer Roter Veltliner 2016

Roter Veltliner is an ancient grape variety originating in Wagram, and unrelated to the other Veltliner of greater fame. It's also not a red grape, but a white grape with reddish hued skin. Despite it's tricky name, it produces wines of incredible clarity and precision.

This example from Kurt Angerer in the Kamptal features delicate floral notes complemented by cashew, and hints of quince, pineapple, basil. It has a medium body, well-balanced acidity and minerality, with a rich and intense finish of ripe stone fruits and a hint of tobacco.
