Ingrid Groiss Gemischter Satz 'Anna's 17' 2025

This Gemischter Satz from Ingrid Groiss is a traditional Austrian wine made from a field blend of numerous different grape varieties, all grown together in a single vineyard. It is an aromatic wine with a light, airy quality on the nose. The fruit comes through on the palate with pear and zesty lemon to the fore. In a world where single varieties rule supreme this is the blend to end all other blends. The result is one of the most refreshing and delightful wines we’ve tried. It’s effortlessly brilliant and proves that variety and a little bit of everything really is the spice of life.

Describing herself as passionate, emotional and determined, this pretty much says it all about Ingrid Groiss and these are the sort of character traits I’d expect to find in a young wine maker who modernised their parent’s winery. Having lived the corporate life with Coca-Cola in her younger years, Ingrid returned to her wine-making roots in Weinviertel and set about producing fantastic wines from the vineyards her gran had planted some 50 years ago. Ingrid’s wines have a great purity to them and the complexity of her Gruner Veltliners is quite amazing. The wines are all certified organic now and they get better with every vintage.
