Gut Oggau winery, nestled in the picturesque town of Oggau, Austria, is a top-notch winery founded by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe. The winery is situated in an abandoned 17th century winery, which the couple painstakingly restored, including a 200-year-old press. Among the more popular members of this Austrian wine "family", Theodora is a spirited, textural white made from grüner veltliner and welschriesling. Hazy, slightly spritzy and downright funky. Something reminiscent of farmhouse ale - yeast, barnyard and whiffs of kombucha upfront with notes of dried flowers, citrus pith and blossom not far behind. Playful is the word here.
