Envínate Albahra Tinto 2023

Albahra—meaning "small sea"—is Envínate’s tribute to the limestone-strewn plateau of Almansa in southeastern Spain, where the native Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) thrives under intense sunlight and cooling Mediterranean breezes. In 2023, the wine again reflects the vintage's clarity and finesse. It is sourced from organically farmed bush vines on calcareous soils at altitude, and vinified with partial whole bunch and minimal extraction to preserve energy and freshness.

Opaque yet lithe, the wine opens with dark cherry, wild herbs, and crushed violets, carried on a savoury undercurrent of iron, black tea, and earth. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy, and saline, with Garnacha Tintorera’s typical colour intensity but none of its potential weight. A touch of Moravia Agria adds lift and structure, giving this cuvée its signature linearity. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
