Babche Wines Grenache 2024

Babche is the Timboon-based project of our friends Niki and Tim, centred on their small vineyard and farm in south-west Victoria. Planting began in 2021 on a cool, maritime site of clay and limestone, with chardonnay, pinot noir and cabernet franc established at high density under organic management, with biodynamic influence.

The name “Babche,” a Slavic word for grandmother, embodies Niki's North Macedonian heritage, and memories of her Grandmother, who made family wine at her home, and inspired Niki to pursue a lifestyle that reflected her memories living close to the land, nature, and embracing simplicity and transparency. This ethos is reflected purely in each of their wines. 

With an effortless elegance, this Grenache taps into the aromatic character of the grape variety. A harmonious blend of tart cherry and plush pink plums, accentuated by a hint of sweet earth. Gentle notes of wild and aromatic herbs play in the background, adding depth. Its refined brightness meets a textured tannic touch, culminating in a subtly dry finish, all enlivened by a sprightly hint of acidity. A wine that sings of both tranquility and zest. An enticing affair for the senses.
