Mise En Place Wines
Red WineMise En Place Homeblock Pinot Noir 2025
Doug Lilburne's career has taken him from the kitchen, to vintage-hopping across hemispheres, to working on various organic and sustainable projects. Now settled in the Yarra Valley, he makes considered wines from organic grapes that he farms and purchases.
Doug's 5-acre home block is located in Steels Creek in the western Yarra Valley. It was completely organically farmed in the 2025 growing season. Here, 30-year-old MV6 clone Pinot Noir vines produced remarkably balanced fruit, with cool breezes through the valley helping the grapes retain acidity during ripening.
30% whole cluster was implemented during fermentation, providing well-integrated tannin and a perfumed aromatic profile that sits alongside the sweet fruit character, which has become a signature of this warmer year in the Yarra.
