Bott Frigyes
White WineBott Frigyes Furmint 2022
Bott Frigyes works organically and biodynamically, and all vineyard work is done by hand. "The historic wine region is enclosed inside the geographical centre of the triangle formed by the Garam River, the Danube, and the southern side of the hills of Muzsla. The old desire of our winery has been to bring back the old splendour to the villages along the Garam River, and to build a well-established winery that rightly reflects the specific characteristics of our wine region." - Bott Frigyes, winemaker.
Bott Frigyes tends his Furmint on volcanic and loess terraces above the Danube, a site that lends both drive and salinity to this noble grape. The 2022 vintage, from a long, even season, was hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented with native yeasts in a combination of tank and large oak cask, then aged on lees to build texture. The wine shows crystalline orchard fruit, quince, and citrus peel, layered with smoky minerality and a gentle herbal lift. Taut acidity and a savoury edge carry the finish, marking this as one of the most articulate Slovak expressions of Furmint.
