Terre à Terre Wrattonbully Sauvignon Blanc 2013

In 1984, drawing from the legacy of his father and grandfather's vineyard wisdom, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego founded Arpepe. His vision was to unveil the full potential of the Valtellina's unique viticulture. With unwavering determination and a commitment to age-old local traditions, Arturo set out to craft enduring Nebbiolo wines. Today, his legacy thrives in the hands of his children, Isabella, Emanuele, and Guido. They blend tradition with state-of-the-art technology, backed by a dedicated and youthful team.

Nestled within the Alpi Retiche and Orobie, the glacier-carved Valtellina valley stretches 120 km from the Stelvio Pass to Lake Como. Its south-facing vineyards, terraced meticulously into the Alpine inclines, bask in sunlight from daybreak to dusk, cooled by breezes from the north. These terraces, fortified by dry-stone walls, cradle soils rich in metamorphic fragments. For centuries, even before the Romans, these terrains have nourished the deep roots of Nebbiolo delle Alpi, fostering unparalleled genetic diversity. During harvest, laborers carry grape clusters in baskets to a mountainside cellar, where fermentation transpires in acacia, chestnut, and oak barrels.

The Rosso di Valtellina encapsulates the essence of each vintage, mirroring its nuances annually. As such, there can be distinct variances between vintages, yet it consistently remains a wine deeply rooted in its terroir. Grapes for the Valtellina Superiore are picked from elevations between 350-400 meters, fostering a wine vibrant in fruitiness and crispness. Post-fermentation, it ages for 6-12 months in expansive barrels, resulting in a wine that is refreshingly approachable, destined to be relished daily.
