White Wine

Malat Ried Gottschelle 1ÖTW 2020

‘Gottschelle is a uniquely thick, powerful loess vineyard with a layer of Old Danube.’ Organic practice, minimal intervention in the winery. Premier Cru Grüner you will get excited about.

The complexity of this wine is outstanding. A melange of silky creamy texture and ripe citrus with stonefruit and a hint of honeydew melon. Swirls of lemon curd tossed with soft fleshy peach and candied lime peel. There’s a pastry note, crushed white flowers, milk powder element, almonds. Palate is textural but very fine, chalky, with a hint of sweetness more of the fruit character than residual (although it is not bone dry, not off-dry either), cleansed perfectly by mouthwatering acidity. It finishes with a dusty lavender, ginger spice and finely ground white pepper aftertaste. Minerally. Lingering. Long. Amazing. 95 Points
