Bendito Destino Clarete 2022

Similar to a rosado or rosé, this wine is a blend of seven different grape varieties from Canalejas de Peñafiel, including Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, and Monastrell for the reds, and Albillo, Pirulés, and Alarije for the whites. It represents an old-school Rosé-Clarete style, traditionally made in the region from the  vineyards and contracted fruit. The grapes are foot-stomped, basket-pressed, and fermented in barrels, where they age on fine lees for seven months. With only 2,280 bottles produced, this wine epitomises classic regional craftsmanship.

Deep pink hue, salmon like. On the nose, vibrant aromas of wild strawberries, red currants, and delicate floral notes are met with a hint of earthiness and subtle herbs. The palate is full and textured, with flavours of ripe raspberry, cranberry, and a touch of citrus zest, balanced by lively acidity and a soft, creamy mouthfeel from the lees ageing. There is a spiciness to the wine, and a smokiness mixed with earth. This wine combines the complexity of red grapes with the freshness of the whites, embodying the classic craftsmanship of the region. There’s great length, tension, richness mixed with softness and sharp acidity.
