I Custodi Saeculare Etna Rosso Riserva 2013

The I Custodi 2013 Etna Rosso Riserva Saeculare stands as a distinctive wine. Its bouquet exudes elegance and finesse. Clearly, the wine has had ample time to mature and achieve harmony through bottle aging. The tannins offer a silky and supple texture, making it a delightful drink at this moment, eliminating the need for further patience. Comprising 80% Nerello Mascalese, this Riserva incorporates smaller percentages of Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante, and other complementary grapes. These are no ordinary vines; they are ancient treasures, some reaching an almost unimaginable age of 250 years (on their original root stocks, naturally) at an elevation of 650 meters on the volcano. The wine undergoes a slow aging process in tonneaux for four years, and a mere 3,300 bottles of this precious elixir exist.
