Heya Ward Rosé 2024
100% Syrah rosé from high elevation vineyards in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley. Direct pressed, fermented in stainless, and matured in neutral oak. Lifted aromas of strawberry, pomegranate, and grapefruit. Saline and fruity on the palate with juicy raspberry and pickled cranberries.
Heya wines was born out of Claudine Lteif and Michelle Chami's desire to empower women in natural wine in Lebanon. Michelle's Husband Eddie is the winemaker for Mersel wines, and encouraged the duo to utilise the winery for their own projects. In 2022 they released their first vintage to the public. Heya means 'she' in Arabic, and celebrates women's work at home and in the vineyard. They produce a small number of cuvees, using indigenous Lebanese and international grape varieties, and do all the work themselves, including hand labelling the bottles. The images on the labels are of women who help make the wines.
