"We’ve been kind of obsessed with a bit of a niche grape variety, Encruzado, a wine that is texturally lush and swallows oak - in our view - just as well as Chardonnay. From the famed Amorim family, the world’s largest cork producer, Taboadella is their exploration of vineyards in the Dão over 42 hectares at 400 530 metres above sea level between Vale do Pereiro and Vale do Sequiero, on gentle southern and western slopes on granitic subsoils, and farm without any irrigation — something that we’re particularly passionate about.

Their vineyards are well-planted to Portuguese specialties like Tinta Roriz
(Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Jaen (Mencia), alongside their
premier white Encruzado. While the average vine age is 30 years old, some plots
