Bott Pince
White WineBott Pince Kulcsar Tokaji Hárslevelű 2023
Judit Bott and her husband Jóska moved to Tokaj in 2000. Judit was a graduate of agricultural college, and Jóska a student of art history. Together, they founded Bott Pince, taking over management of well-established old vines in the famed wine region's volcanic hills.
Today they manage their vineyards organically, and continue to explore their terroirs through single vineyard expressions of the indigenous grapes Furmint and Hárslevelű. As well as their traditional Aszú sweet wines, and historical botrytised Szamorodni wines, Bott Pince's tiny production of dry wines are a significant contribution to the emergence of modern dry winemaking in Tokaj.
The Kulcsar vineyard is situated at the foot of an ancient volcano, where aromatic Hárslevelű grows on stony rhyolite soils. The 2023 vintage of this single-vineyard dry wine is ripe and textural, showing characteristic honeyed florals, ripe apples, and apricot, underpinned by earthy flint and smoke.
