Welshriesling, despite its name, is not related to the more famous Riesling grape. It is widely cultivated in Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, and Croatia, where it is known by various names such as Italian Riesling, Graševina, Olasz, and Rizling. In Austria, Welshriesling is the second most planted white grape variety after Grüner Veltliner. When grown and vinified like this example, the wine can show texture, concentration, and immense mineral complexity.
