Les Guérites sits above Lake Geneva on the calcareous, moraine-influenced slopes of La Côte, where reflected light from the water and the moderating lake climate give Chardonnay ripeness and tension. The domaine is still owned by the city of Morges and was established in 1547. This wine shows citrus peel, white peach and almond skin, with a fine chalky line running through the palate. There is breadth and delicate concentration, the acidity is very elegant, and a mineral persistence that speaks clearly of Vaud’s lake-cooled terraces.
