Freeman pioneered the Australian cultivation of Corvina and Rondinella, beginning with just six cuttings of each variety, sourced from the Veneto. These grapes are traditionally associated with Valpolicella and Bardolino, and form the basis of Freeman's flagship Secco, which incorporates partially dried grapes. The 2024 Rosso Corvina Rondinella is a lighter, more immediate expression, made exclusively from freshly harvested fruit. The varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel, briefly matured in seasoned oak barrels and blended before bottling. Aromas of ripe red berries, briar and savoury herbs introduce a light-bodied palate with generous fruit, soft tannins and a mellow, gently savoury finish.
